Modern brides want their ideal wedding to reflect their personal style.  Vintage jewelry is an exuberant and affordable way to accomplish her dreams.  The appeal of vintage costume jewelry is that the pieces are unique and almost one of a kind.  A bride's wedding day jewelry will not be duplicated by any other woman who is marrying in the same year and shopping at the same wedding stores.   Vintage bridal jewelry, in pristine condition, is becoming increasingly rare as many of the items haven't survived the 1950's when they were extremely popular. The use of hairspray, perfumes, lotions and the common practice of smoking at cocktail parties all took their toll on these beautiful glass jewelry pieces.  The jewelry wasn't manufactured to survive the ages, so the pieces that did are now highly collectible.  If you do not see a vintage piece of interest, please contact me and I am happy to search for your perfect item.

Finding unique gifts for the special ladies (Moms) in your wedding can be challenging.  How about a Vintage Beaded Handbag for that one of a kind presentation that she will never forget.  It is a beautiful and practical accessory that she may not splurge on for herself - yet will use frequently; whether on a cruise vacation, holiday party or for a client dinner. A collectible memento of your wedding that is an elegant reminder of a lovely family special occasion.

Sometimes the "Something Old - Something New" of the wedding poem can be coordinated into one jewelry piece.  For example, the bridesmaid's pendant, depicted in the photo above, is a new yellow sapphire faceted round gemstone in a sterling silver setting with a vintage chain.  The bride provided me with a budget for her attendant's jewelry, as well as the preferred color and style.  As I found items that fit her criteria, I e-mailed her photos and a complete description for evaluation.   She received celebrity treatment from her personal "jewelry stylist" who coordinated the jewelry for every member of her bridal party -- including moms.   The special jewelry she chose for her attendants are memorable gifts and reflect her personal style in the precious wedding photographs.

The hottest trend, as seen in Bridal Magazines, for 2010 Weddings is vintage brooches on floral bouquets, cakes and in centerpieces.   An adorable vintage butterfly or dragonfly brooch can be incorporated into a bridal bouquet as a charming accent or adorn flowers/ribbons that encircle a wedding cake.  If you do not see your perfect piece in my Boutique please contact me and I'll search for just the right item.

Design Consultation

How about the assistance of a jewelry stylist for the ultimate in personal attention for the most important day of your life.  Ensure that the accessories for your wedding party are coordinated to reflect your personal style.  Both Vintage and New jewelry items will be used according to the preference of the bride.  If you are in the Asheville area contact Shelley for a complimentary consultation.

I cannot take credit for originating the 2010 trend of vintage brooches on cakes and in floral bouquets and centerpieces -- but I can provide the authentic vintage brooches.  Consider placing numbers on the back of the dinner place cards of the ladies in attendance.  Sometime during the evening the bride draws a number and awards the beautiful brooch or brooches to the lucky winner(s).  It adds a unique element to the reception party and a lucky lady goes home with a collectible memento.

"Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue"

The poem and its wedding traditions unite women through the generations just as vintage rhinestone jewelry unites the elegant women of bygone eras with the present.  Rhinestone jewelry from the 1950's was worn by the most glamorous women of the day including Ava Gardner, Grace Kelly, Elizabeth Taylor and Lucille Ball.  Wear jewelry on your wedding day that is unique, exuberant and affordable - pieces in which the rhinestones were so beautifully set, they could be imposters for diamonds.
